CHALK LINE POWDER
COLORED CHALK POWDER FOR MARKING USING CHALK LINE REELS
Chalk line powder—also known as just chalk powder—is a colorful powder made from chalk to be used with chalk line reels to mark straight lines on indoor and outdoor surfaces.
The chalk line powder is filled into the housing, which is also where the drum with the wrapped cord is located. Chalk powder is added to the chalk line by pulling out the chalk line and unwinding it. Snapping the cord over the surface will leave behind a straight line marked with the colored powder.
THE COMPOSITION OF CHALK LINE POWDER
The composition of the chalk line powder is crucial for precise marking. Chalk line powder with a higher color pigment to chalk ratio ensures the line has good visibility and durability. Only very finely ground chalk powder optimally adheres to the cord. This means that every line will be clear and precise.
DIFFERENT COLORS AND THEIR PROPERTIES
Several factors play a role when it comes to choosing the right chalk line powder color: the color and type of surface to be marked, wind and rain resistance, or if the line needs to be easy to wipe off or difficult to remove. There is a perfect chalk powder color for every situation.
Black:
- Good adhesion characteristics
- Finely ground colorant provides high visibility
- Resistant to rain and wind
- Clearly visible on light surfaces
- Hard to remove
Blue:
- Clearly visible on light surfaces
- Finely ground colorant provides high visibility
- Easy to wipe off
Red:
- Easy to see on all surfaces
- Finely ground colorant provides high visibility
- Resistant to rain and wind
- Good adhesion characteristics
- Hard to remove
Orange:
- Easy to see on all surfaces
- Finely ground colorant provides high visibility
- Resistant to rain and wind
White:
- Clearly visible on dark surfaces
- Finely ground colorant provides high visibility
- Easy to wipe off
Green:
- Clearly visible on dark surfaces
- Finely ground colorant provides high visibility

TIPS FOR REMOVING CHALK LINE POWDER
In dry conditions, chalk like powder can be easily cleaned up with a brush or cloth. If the chalk powder isn’t fully removed this way, use a cotton cloth and some warm water to carefully wipe away the color. Alternatively, if there is stubborn color residue, use a magic eraser (an open-pore special sponge) to remove the marks.
