Measuring Squares and Rules
SQUARES AND RULES – PRECISE MEASURING TOOLS FOR ACCURATE WORK
Squares need to be just as reliable as the work and products that are created with them: That's why at SOLA we offer a wide range of highly professional squares in a variety of shapes and designs. They all have one thing in common: the consistently high quality standards to which we at SOLA are committed. Needless to say, all SOLA squares are tested tools.
WHERE CAN MEASURING SQUARES BE USED?
Where high accuracy is required, reliable squares are an indispensable tool, particularly in woodwork, metalwork, engineering or construction. Squares are used to calculate a perfect right angle in relation to the reference edge; they can also be used for subsequent checks.
WHICH TYPES OF MEASURING SQUARES EXIST?
Easy to use yet highly sophisticated, highly diverse in terms of design – something that sets the SOLA range apart.
Available square types:
- Joiner’s square
- Miter square
- Adjustable square
- Locksmith’s square
- Carpenter’s square
- Construction square
HOW DO MEASURING SQUARE DESIGNS VARY?
Differences can primarily be seen in the design, construction and the scale used on the square itself. Generally, angle tools are used to measure an exact angle of 90 degrees. Beveled steel squares, for example, are defined by their tapered finish and the special steel used to make them. Similarly true to their name, stop squares, feature a stop on a straight edge. Flat squares, on the other hand, are made from characteristic flat steel. Joiner’s squares are used in woodworking, e.g. to measure cabinet walls, built-in kitchens and any other similar wooden furniture.
As a rule, scales are printed on both sides. This makes it possible to read the measurements from two different sides, making the measurement and related work more precise.
WHAT SETS SOLA MEASURING SQUARES APART?
Our experience and quality standards are reflected in our products. We use only high-quality materials and place strict requirements on every single production step. The materials we use to make the blade, handle and surface are specifically matched to their intended use, resulting in a quality product tailor-made for the task at hand – from the handle to the ends.
We use (stainless) spring steel, steel or aluminum for our blades.
Depending on their intended future use, the measuring surfaces are treated separately. For example, they may require additional grinding, chrome plating or coating, polishing or anodizing of the metal. Markings are placed according to the expected load on the square. SOLA squares typically feature etched, engraved or printed markings.
- Stainless steel
- Plastic (ABS)
- Aluminum die cast
- Aluminum, anodized
